It all began down on Neighborhood Drive on New Year's Eve 2005. The band formerly known as The Southern Way became South of the River. It seemed like the logical thing to do. Over the Christmas holiday, The Southern Way's lead guitarist was forced to leave the group due to personal circumstances beyond his control. The remaining members decided to stay together but with a whole new groove! First, the rhythm guitarist stepped up and filled the lead position. Next, new material was added to the band's line up...original as well as cover songs. And finally, all four members agreed on the new name for the band...South of the River.
South of the River is a family of musicians who are bound together by the joy they find in making music. From all walks of life, the members meet on the common ground they've found in their original sound. Even the cover songs that the band performs are given that South of the River heart and soul.
