A dark little hideaway on the east side of town
A small smoky room with an illuminated stage
Where a local poet recites the thoughts of hours before
There's a man in the corner that likes to play the blues
He's good but right now he sits and listens
There's the artists in the back enthralled in their passions
Normally they're caught in the same day to day
Or their next moment yet right now they, too, sit and listen
There's a woman sitting behind a table
Listening, recording my thoughts as I stand
on an illuminated stage in a dark little hideaway
On the east side of town
