Welcome to Something Blue. I'm Hairy Larry and I've got the Blues, for you.

All right now that's Chris "Stinger" Stevens with some Blues and some Jazz. We heard "Blues In Gee" and before that, kicking us off tonight he played "Jazz Jack". Chris wrote both of these songs. He's from Illinois where Blues is a way of life and he has come to Jonesboro where he played at the bandshell with The Mudcats. We're hoping to have him back again this Spring.
Back in the Blues Alley days I recorded an album by Will Riley with Bix Smith on guitar. Will moved to Walnut Ridge where he is writing and recording at his own studio. Here's a couple of songs he wrote, "I'd Like To Start Over Losing You Again", and "Love's Got A Way Of Knowing".

Here's a song about western Arkansas written and sung by a Memphis songwriter, Jimmy Davis. It's about an old outlaw hideout that's now a state park, "Devil's Den".

And that's Jimmy Davis with a story song called "Grandmother's Quilt". He's using a literary device that's called an extended metaphor. Before that we heard Will Riley sing a love song he wrote with a Jazzy feel called "Never Gonna Let You Go".
Here's one more by Jimmy Davis, a Blues based song about a man who loves his "Poor Man's Treasure".

That's what I'm talking about, Mark Sallings doing his rockabilly song "Big V-8". Mark was from Wynne, Arkansas and he spent his life playing the Blues in the Mid South and all over the country. He was a fine songwriter as well as an excellent musician. Before that we heard Chris "Stinger" Stevens play "Elf Jazz" and Gary "Alaska" Sloan sing "Ain't That The Blues".
Gary "Alaska" Sloan lives in Central Arkansas. He spent years playing the Blues in Alaska before he came back home. Here he is now telling it like it is with his "Working Man Blues".
