All right, we got some Delta Blues for you tonight and kicking us
off we heard a contemporary Delta Blues band, "The Famous
Unknowns", doing Mark Salling's tune, "Marks Harpo". Then a
blast from the past with Willie Brown singing "Future Blues";
the famous Robert Johnson song "Cross Road Blues"; and Robert
Petway doing "Catfish Blues". These selections are from a Rhino
anthology compiled by Robert Palmer called "Mississippi Delta
Blues".
Now let's hear the same song sung by a contemporary Delta
Bluesman from Clarksdale, Mississippi, Big Jack Johnson.

And that's Big Jack Johnson doing the Oil Man. Before that we
heard Lonnie Shields from West Helena, Arkansas do "Hard Times"
from his "Portrait" CD.
Another Delta Bluesman, Tony Spinner, has a CD out on Blues
Bureau called "Saturn Blues". Tony is from Jonesboro and has
been touring with Pat Travers. Playing with him on "Saturn
Blues" are Aynsley Dunbar, drums and John Onder, bass. Tony
wrote all the songs so now let's listen to his tune, "Angeline".

We're all excited about Tony's album especially since it's so
good. In between Tony we heard The Famous Unknowns, a Memphis
area blues band with musicians from Arkansas and Tenessee. They
played "Tore Down" from their CD "Up Close and Personal".
You can see the Famous Unknowns next Saturday night at a Sonny
Boy Blues Society fund raiser in Helena. Just five dollars gets
you into the old J.C. Penney building for a night of quality
blues. Like this next song by the Famous Unknowns, "Dirty
