Watkins, Kelly and Jean Pates, Johnny Crocker, Gary Sloan play - Welcome to Something Blue, This is Hairy Larry and I've got the Blues, ... for you. play - All right, that's J.T. Watkins singing "Knowing I Still Love You". Kicking us off tonight we heard O.D. and the S.S.M. Band live at the Saxophone Restaurant and Bar in Singapore. O'Donel Levy, the bandleader sang one he wrote called "I'm in the Mood for Love". Then Lady Rebecca Lilly sang the R&B classic "Respect". We met O.D. on the internet and he sent us these live recordings for "Something Blue". In fact this whole show is great recordings mostly available nowhere else. The J.T. Watkins material was given to me by Ronnie Williams also known as Black Oak Slim. Here's a couple more from J.T.s new CD "I Can't Get Over You", we're going to hear "So What's Going On" and "One Step From the Blues". play - And that's Suzanne Michell accompanying herself three times on her acapella version of "Hard Times". Suzanne is a regular performer at Blues Fest and has been featured on Something Blue many times. She produced "Hard Times" herself on a home mini-studio. Now here's Kelly and Jean Pates with a couple of more tunes that Black Oak Slim brought in. play - That's Kelly and Jean Pates singing a little bit of Rockabilly based blues. Ronnie Williams also brought me some songs by Johnny Crocker. These artists all perform in this area and if you are interested in them contact Ronnie by email. Gary has played at Blues Fest and has been featured on Something Blue with the Flying Hungarians. These tapes were made in Belgrade, Yugoslavia where Gary was Arkansas' ambassador for the Blues.
