play - Robert Cray, Nice As A Fool Can Be

Welcome to Something Blue. This is Hairy Larry and I've got the Blues,
for you ...

play - The Barrelhouse Kings, Best Stop Messin' Around
play - The Barrelhouse Kings, Feed My Family

And that's The Barrelhouse Kings, from Memphis, Tennessee with a couple
of originals, "Feed My Family" and "Best Stop Messin' Around". Kicking
us off tonight we heard Robert Cray with one he wrote called "Nice As A
Fool Can Be".

The Barrelhouse Kings 1998 CD, "go to the river" features all originals
written by Chris Kohlehmainen with three of the tunes cowritten by
Kandra Kohlemainen. Chis is guitarist for the band and both Chris and
Kandra sing. The Barrelhouse Kings also feature Christopher M. Hipp,
bass; John Lambert, drums; and Lee Raines, harmonica.

They have a good band sound with the guitar and harmonica working well
together and I really like their lyrics. Just listen to the words on
these two songs, "Keep on Lookin'" and "Left Coast Blues".

play - The Barrelhouse Kings, Keep On Lookin'
play - The Barrelhouse Kings, Left Coast Blues
play - Son Seals, My Time Now

All right, Son Seals from Osceola, Arkansas, now living and playing in
Chicago, Illinois and all over the world. We heard one he wrote, "My
Time Now". Here's another one he wrote that has become a signature tune
for him. From "Living in The Danger Zone" here's Son Seal's "Bad Axe".

play - Son Seals, Bad Axe
play - Son Seals, My Life

And that's Son Seals singing an introspective tune he called "My Life".
Also featured on this haunting track are Sid Wingfield, organ; Johnny B.
Gayden, bass; and Sugar Blue, harmonica.

humorous slice of life called "The Hoosier Lottery".

And that's The Beat Daddys with "Different Name". The Beat Daddys are
Larry Grisham, guitar and harmonica; Britt Mercham, lead guitar; Lewis
Ross, drums; and David "Brill" Morris, bass. Larry Grisham, their lead
