Leon is the Godfather of RocknRoll. As the band leader for one of the first RocknRoll bands he has been a mentor to many of the musicians from the area, teaching them to play and providing equipment for their gigs.

The Leon Gambill Band was comprised of Leon Gambill, his son Randy and granddaughter Cassie. Sonny Ackerman and Bill Williams filled in on guitar and drums and Dennis Mathes played bass.


Big Creek Band


Dennis Mathes - Hawaiian steel guitar, mandolin, harp, and piano

Kale Riley on drums, Sonny Ackerman on Lead Guitar, and Dave Pearson on guitar and vocals.

Big Creek Band is comprised of veteran musicans who have been plying their trade for many years. Band leader Dennis Mathes is song writer and arranger for the group. Sonny Ackerman is one of those guitarist who can grab you with his first lick. Dave Pearson has spent a lifetime in music from the stages of the old Troy Opry to giging at the local senior dance.

Suzanne Michell

Suzanne Michell has one of the most beautiful voices in the world. She is an entertainer, songwriter, and musician. Jazz, Blues, Folk, Pop, whatever the style, it will be great. Suzanne brings a wonderful sense of adventure to the festival because you never know what she will pull out of one of her hats.

Cindy Richardson

This young husband and wife duo are terrific by themselves or in front of a band. Cindy has one of those unforgettable voices and Paul is the piano man.

Hairy Larry and The Flying Hungarians

Hairy Larry and The Flying Hungarians first began performing back in the 80's and the band has grown and changed over the years. They performed at the very first Blues Fest and continue to bring great Blues and Rock to the stage nine years later. Hairy Larry promotes live music all over the Mississippi Delta and is a familiar face to most festival attendants.

Jerry Kattawar

The Kattawar Brothers are show stoppers. They raise a ruckus. With piano and drums these guys are a full orchestra. Brother Mike is one of the best drummers in the business. Jerry is a dynamo. He gives the crowd 200%. Can be play those boogie woogie mud bottom old fashion blues. YES!

Jeremy Burnett

John Shepherd has been a regular at Blues Fest over the years. A fantastic Blues guitarist and song writer John is one of Blues Fest's favorite acts. Harpist Jeremy Burnett joins John on vocals as well as cuttin heads. We've watched bassist Matt Riley grow up over the years. This kid is going somewhere watch out for him. Drummer Mike Riley (Matt's Uncle) is terrific and he's not always that serious.
