The Goodbye Girl

Eddie Mekka in The Goodbye Girl

The Goodbye Girl is a Neil Simon play starring Eddie Mekka. Mekka is a Tony Award nominee as well as a Drama Desk award winner. Best known for his role as Carmine Ragusa on the series Laverne and Shirley he's also appeared in Happy Days, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, Moonlighting, The Big Easy, and Family Matters.

The Goodbye Girl is the story of Paula, an unlucky in love single mother and an out of work chorus dancer past her prime. As the musical opens we learn that she has been deserted by yet another live in boyfriend, Steve. Paula is struggling to make ends meet while raising her 12 year old daughter Lucy. They share an apartment leased by Steve, which unbeknownst to Paula, he has now subleased to Elliot, a struggling actor from Chicago.

Elliot has come to New York to star in his first Off-Broadway show. When Elliot arrives the night before rehearsals with sublease in hand, the fireworks begin. It is hate at first sight for Paula and Elliott but after a good deal of argument and negotiation they arrive at a truce and agree to share the apartment. This sets the stage for comedy, suspense and romance.

The Goodbye Girl is part of the Showtime Series of national touring productions. For ticket information and reservations please call The Forum box office at (870) 935-2726.
