This album, “Pearl´´, is not only an artistic farewell, but also a statement of strength, vulnerability and authenticity. Pearl´´ is Janis Joplin’s last and most iconic album, released posthumously on 11 January 1971, three months after her death. It is considered a rock and soul masterpiece and cemented her legacy as one of the most powerful voices in 20th-century music. ``Pearl´´ reached number one in the US and remained on the charts for weeks. It includes her most famous performance: Me and Bobby McGee, written by Kris Kristofferson. The album shows a more mature Janis, with greater vocal and emotional control. His brother, trumpeter Mike Metheny, introduced him to jazz, and at the age of 12 he picked up a guitar for the first time. After developing his technique at an astonishing speed, studying classic jazz masters such as guitarists Wes Montgomery and Charlie Christian, at the age of fifteen he won a scholarship for talented young musicians donated by Downbeat magazine and then entered the University of Miami, also on a scholarship. Shortly afterwards, at the age of 19, he was already teaching guitar at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston, where his students included Al Di Meola and Mike Stern. —————————————————————————– Patrick Brucce Metheny, verdadero nombre del guitarrista y compositor, Pat Metheny, (Lee’s Summit, Misuri; 12 de agosto de 1954), fue considerado desde su infancia un niño prodigio. Su hermano, el trompetista, Mike Metheny, lo inició en el jazz y a los 12 años agarró por primera vez una guitarra.
