Delta Boogie Blues Fest, September, 2006
Blues Fest this year is dedicated to the memory of Dennis Mathes.
Dennis Mathes and his Big Creek Band have been regulars at Blues Fest and Sunday In The Park for years. The Big Creek Band show at 3:00 will feature many of the musicians who have played with Dennis at Blues Fest.
Dennis was also lead carpenter on The Bandshell. Many a day Dennis, Sonny Ackerman, my boys, Kier and Carl, and I would cut the boards and hammer the nails.
He was nonstop promoting music in Northeast Arkansas and he will be missed.
On the first Sunday, Sept. 3, jams and open mic performances starting at noon. Special guests The Lydia Warren Band will play at 2:00 pm. The day will also feature Hairy Larry and The Flying Hungarians and The Mudcats.
