Eddie Shaw - IN THE LAND OF THE CROSSROADS - Rooster Blues R72624

Here is a plateful of the blues that is spiced just right by the saxaphone and vocals of Eddie Shaw. It is as far as you will need to look if you want to hear some high energy, electric delta blues played by one of the best sax players ever to come out of Mississippi. Eddie and his tight-but-loose band dish up some of the best music I have heard in a long while on this 1992 set.

Eddie started out playing in Mississippi in `52, then moved to Chicago to play with Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf from `57 on. Of all the lucky and talented musicians to go down that road, Eddie Shaw is one of the best examples of the ones who came back home to the South after the blues boom was over. This release is all you will need to agree with me. It is full of the kind of energy and soul that makes the blues so tasty to so many different people around the world.

Accompanied by Eddie "Vaan" Shaw Jr.- guitar, Lafayette "Shorty" Gilbert- bass and Robert Plunkett on drums, this release was recorded at Delta Recording Service in Clarkesdale and produced by Eddie Shaw and Jim O' Neal.
