Yesterday I was watching on the news at six. They say unemployment is dropping like a brick. You used to see people standing in bread lines. Now everywhere you go there's help wanted signs. I could use a little help sometimes. Feeding my dog or picking out a rhyme. But this working for a living is still kind of lame. The more thing's change the more they stay the same. It's a mean old world you know it takes all kinds. Sometimes I think everyone's losin' their mind. Like to move on down the road but my feet are made of clay. I think I'll stay around the house today. (guitar repeats last line) I saw a street sweeper he was pushin' on his broom. Kicking up the dust and whistling a tune. I was talking to a salesman, tried to sell me a car. Couldn't go too fast, wouldn't go too far. Bag lady went by pushing on her grocery cart. Full of cans and gum wrappers and a pan that fell apart. And then there was the lady in the laundromat. In her ten dollar shoes and her ninety dollar hat. It's a mean old world you know it takes all kinds. Sometimes I think everyone's losin' their mind. Like to move on down the road but my feet are made of clay. I guess I'll stay around the house today. (guitar repeats last line) I couldn't be a lawyer cause I got an honest streak. And I couldn't lift weights cause my knees are too weak. Couldn't be a professor, I got too much common sense. And I couldn't be a doctor, cause I got no patience. Wouldn't be a garbage man, pickin' through your trash. Don't want to be a banker with my hands on your cash. I might play music makin' all the people dance. But I got a tin ear and I got no romance. It's a mean old world you know it takes all kinds. Sometimes I think everyone's losin' their mind. Like to move on down the road but my feet are made of clay. I think I'll lay around the house today. I think I'll lay around the house today.
